Twenthieth Sunday In Ordinary Time
Celebrated every year on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven, before her body could begin to decay–a foretaste of our own bodily resurrection at the end of time. Because it signifies the Blessed Virgin’s passing into eternal life, it is the most important of all Marian feasts and a Holy Day of Obligation.
Holy Day Mass Times
- Monday August 14th at 7 PM
- Tuesday August 15th at 7 AM and 12 Noon
From the Pastor
Our parish has just received $39,149.13 from the Foundation of Diocese of Buffalo. These funds represent our share earned from the Upon This Rock campaign conducted in this parish last year from September through November. You may remember that 35% of all funds donated to the campaign by parishioners were designated for parish use. These funds will be used for capital projects in the church, rectory, school and cemetery. In addition, we expect to receive more funds over the next four years as pledge payments are honored beyond these funds specifically designated for SEAS.
We will also be assisted by the remaining donations given to the foundation. They will be used to revitalize parishes, strengthen faith through faith formation programs and Catholic School education, provide clergy and lay formation, provide care for diocesan priests and ministry to the needy. In short, last year’s capital campaign will provide funds to reshape how service is provided to all we serve in the Diocese of Buffalo. We are most grateful to all who gave so very generously toward the Upon this Rock Campaign. Parishioners should begin to see concrete evidence of their generosity soon!

A few weeks ago we noted several parishioners who had served at the altar faithfully and are now beginning new challenges. We also need to recognize Rebecca Banach who was also among our very best servers and who graduated from high school in June. Rebecca will soon go to study at Mercyhurst University in Erie. Congratulations and Best Wishes! We are proud of you.
Rosary for Peace in the Middle East and Our World
We invite you to join us this Thursday, August 17th at 5:30 p.m. for a rosary and litany here in the church. The intention will be ‘Peace in the Middle East and Our World’. Invite your friends and family. Our young people need to be exposed to the powerful prayer of the rosary.
All over the world those that follow Christ are being persecuted. Especially in the Middle East where Christians are giving up homes, businesses, country and their lives for His sake.
Here at home “Christian” is becoming a non-welcome word. More than ever we need to pray for peace in our streets and cities, for those who fight to be faithful and that all will be restored in Christ. This evening prayer service is held each third Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
